Sunsilk Advertisement in Malaysia
*** Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksLBB1VeT68 ***
Which is really interesting with this ad, is the fact that this is an ad for a shampoo, but, because of the religion, we can't see the hair. But the veil is represented like the hair.
The women takes the biggest place in the picture. The name of the brand is written big in the middle. We can see the product picture on the right side. The color is green, which is a "fresh" and calming color. The Islam is the first and only to associate the green color with the nature, the oasis and the paradise.
On the video, the first image is the women who chooses her veil. Then, we see her in the daily like. We can notice that not all the women who appear in the video wear the veil. That is because 60% of the Malaysian population are muslim (read part "Discover Malaysia"). After that, this is shooted in a laboratory where the analysis for the shampoo take place. A "scientist" is talking about the product, its benefits, ect.
Even if we can see not veiled women, we never see the face of the women when she doesn't wear her veil. We just see her hair when she is in the laboratory, but we don't see her face at the same time. The cause is obviously the religion.
